Running a Firm

A firm is a licensed business you register at City Hall and run with your own crew - ranks, a shared bank, and field-specific tools. This page covers every field currently live; more are added here as they go live in-game.

Registering a firmcosts a base fee plus a field-specific surcharge, and requires an approved City Hall license matching the field you're registering as. Use /firmcreate [field] [abbrev] [name] once you have both.

Once registered, /firmduty toggles whether you're actively working, and /firmhelp lists every command available to you based on your firm and rank. Owners and managers can invite (/firminvite) and manage ranks (/firmrank). Firm vehicles are currently assigned by staff, not bought by the firm itself.

🔧
Mechanic
License required: Mechanic

Repair, respray, paint, tune, and de-contaminate fuel on any nearby vehicle for a fee - levels up the more jobs you finish, cutting your job time as you go.

/mechanicWith no argument: shows your level, jobs done, and current job timer.
/mechanic bodyworkRepairs body damage (panels/doors/lights/tyres) and restores health on the nearest vehicle.
/mechanic engineFully repairs the vehicle's engine health.
/mechanic respray / interiorOpens a dialog to enter an exterior or interior colour ID (0-255).
/mechanic paintjob / removepaintjobApply one of the vehicle's paintjobs, or strip it back off.
/mechanic drainfuelDrains a contaminated tank so it can be refilled from empty - only works if the tank is actually contaminated.
/mtunestartOpens the performance tuning menu (component type, then component) for the nearest vehicle.
/mcancelCancels your current job.
/mstats [player]Your (or another player's) mechanic level, jobs done, and job timer. Senior admins can check anyone even off-duty.
  • Targets whichever vehicle is nearest within 5 metres - or, if you're a passenger (not the driver) in a vehicle, that vehicle directly.
  • You can't work on Police, Federal, EMS, or News faction vehicles.
  • Leaving duty, your firm closing, or the target vehicle disappearing mid-job cancels the job automatically.
🚌
Transit Operator
License required: Transit Operator

Run a taxi service in a Taxi or Cabbie - fares are calculated live from the distance your passenger actually travels.

/fare [$1-$5]Sets your per-unit rate and clocks you on duty. Run it again while on duty to clock off.
/startmeterStarts the meter - you must be on duty, in the driver's seat of a Taxi/Cabbie.
/stopmeterStops the meter, locking in the final fare shown on the in-car sign.
  • The meter reads live on a sign in the vehicle: fare rate, and running total ($1 per 30 units travelled × your rate).
  • Exiting the vehicle while on duty automatically clocks you off.
  • Taxis only for now - bus routes are planned for a future update.
🛡️
Security
License required: Security Guard (granted automatically on joining)

Provide licensed security - restrain unruly people, and drive marked vehicles with proper light bars.

/cuff [player]Restrains someone. If they're already incapacitated, tased, or beanbagged, it's instant; otherwise they need to type "/accept cuffs".
/uncuff [player]Frees a cuffed person - you need to be within 3 metres of them.
/taserDraws (or holsters) a taser in place of your current weapon; fire it like any other weapon.
  • Any rank can use cuffs and the taser, as long as you're on duty in a Security firm.
  • Every member gets the base Guard Card the moment they join - no separate City Hall trip needed.
  • Firearm Guard Cards are a separate license, applied for through the existing government/police process - not granted automatically.
  • Firm vehicles are currently assigned by staff, not bought or claimed by the firm itself.
  • Firm vehicles assigned to a Security firm can use the same siren light bars as the Security faction, on the same key.
⚖️
Lawyer
License required: Lawyer

Reduce a prisoner's sentence for a fee - built with hard limits so it always takes real roleplay, never a shortcut.

/inmatesLists prisoners eligible for defense (15+ minutes remaining, not a life sentence, not already represented this stay).
/defend [player] [minutes] [price/min]Offers to defend a prisoner. Sends them a request that expires after 30 seconds if unanswered.
/accept defendPrisoner-side: accepts a pending defense offer.
  • You need to actually be with your client (within 10 units) both to make the offer and when they accept it - have a guard walk them to a visitation room first.
  • Minimum price is $100 per minute reduced - no undercutting the whole system with a token payment.
  • A single defense can never reduce a sentence by more than 50%, and can never bring it below 15 minutes remaining.
  • The offer is automatically capped to whatever the prisoner can actually pay (cash and bank combined) - nobody is ever put in the negative.
  • Can only be used once per sentence - a fresh arrest resets that.

Logistics
License required: Logistics Coordinator

Build a haulage fleet and work the county's trade routes through the full existing trucking economy - firm-owned trucks and trailers work exactly like personal ones.

/truckerjobSigns on (or off) at the County Haulage Office in Blueberry. Your hours and rank carry over if you leave and come back.
/cargo buy / sellBuy from the storage arrow you're standing at, or sell to a storage or a business entrance.
/cargo take / placeOn foot: take one crate out of the nearest unlocked vehicle, or place the crate you're carrying into one.
/cargo pickup / putdownPick a carried crate up off the ground, or set it down.
/cargo forkIn a Forklift: shift cargo between two vehicles.
/cargo listShows what's loaded in the nearest unlocked vehicle.
/trailer lock / cargo / detachLock a hooked trailer to your firm/account, check what it's carrying, or drop it.
/tpdaThe trucker's PDA - every industry, every business accepting cargo, and vehicle capacities.
/tradereportLogistics-only: a live top-5 of the best-paying routes right now, with buy point, sell point, and margin per unit.
/truckerstatsYour trucker rank and hours.
  • Bulk commodities (fuel, milk, dyes, cereal, cotton, aggregate, scrap) pump straight from the cab; everything else is carried crate by crate on foot.
  • Trailers hook up automatically when you reverse onto one - no command needed to attach.
  • Any vehicle owned by your firm (any field, not just Logistics) refuels at 25% off.
  • Firm-owned trucks and trailers are assigned by staff, and work with the trucker job exactly like a personal rig - no extra steps.

Media
License required: Media Correspondent

Run an independent news outlet - live broadcasts, breaking news, and reporter/outlet leaderboards. A player-run replacement for the old News faction, sharing the exact same broadcasting tools.

/broadcast start [title]Goes live under a title. Announces locally and with a server-wide tip pointing people to /broadcasts.
/broadcast mute / unmutePauses or resumes your live broadcast without ending it.
/broadcast endEnds your broadcast and logs it to history.
/coanchor invite / accept / leave / remove [player]Bring a second on-duty reporter onto your broadcast - they can speak on-air from anywhere.
/live [text]Speak on-air - to your own broadcast, as a co-anchor, or (from within 5m) to a broadcaster you're tuned into nearby.
/breaking [text]Server-wide breaking news alert, tagged with your outlet. Shared 60-second cooldown across every reporter.
/broadcastsBrowse every live broadcast right now (title, broadcaster, outlet, co-anchor, listener count) and tune in to one.
/tunein [player] / /tuneoutTune into a specific broadcaster directly, or stop listening.
/newsroomSee every on-duty reporter, their outlet, and what they're currently doing.
/broadcasthistory [page]Past broadcasts - broadcaster, outlet, title, date, duration, peak listeners.
/reporterleaderboard [page]Top reporters (and their outlet) by total airtime.
/outletleaderboard [page]Top outlets themselves - reporters, broadcasts, and airtime per firm.
/mybroadcaststatsYour own career totals - broadcasts, airtime, best/average peak listeners.
/weeklyactivity [page]The last 7 days of activity, per reporter/outlet.
  • Multiple Media firms can broadcast at the same time - listeners pick who to tune into, same as picking a radio station.
  • Every broadcast, breaking news alert, and the newsroom/leaderboard screens show which outlet a reporter is with, so competing firms are easy to tell apart.
  • A reporter's outlet is locked in the moment a broadcast starts, so history and leaderboards stay accurate even if they later change firms.
  • Getting incapacitated while live automatically ends your broadcast and logs it - no need to remember /broadcast end.
