Guides / Firms / Media🎙️ Media firms
Run an independent news outlet. A media firm is a player-run news outlet. Reporters go live, tell the county what is happening and compete on the leaderboards. It replaces the old News faction and uses the same broadcasting tools.
📝
Getting started
License, fee and registration
$50,000to register: just the base fee
Media Correspondentlicense from the Red County Administration Building
Get your license
Apply for the Media Correspondent license through the Red County Administration Building.
Register the firm
Registration happens at the Red County Administration Building front desk with /firmcreate [field] [abbreviation] [name]. The abbreviation is up to 8 characters and the name up to 64. The fee comes out of your cash and you become the owner.
Clock in
Reporters use /firmduty before they go live.
📡
Going live
Broadcasts and co-anchors
Start the broadcast
/broadcast start [title] goes live. It announces locally, and a server-wide tip points people to /broadcasts.
Talk
Use /live [text] to speak on air. You can pause with /broadcast mute and resume with /broadcast unmute.
Bring a partner
/coanchor invite lets a second on-duty reporter speak on your broadcast from anywhere. They use accept or leave, and you can remove them.
End it
/broadcast end finishes it and logs it. Getting incapacitated while live ends it for you.
Several outlets can be live at the same time. Listeners choose who to tune into, the way they would pick a radio station.
👂
Your audience
Finding and listening to broadcasts
- /broadcasts shows every live broadcast with its title, broadcaster, outlet, co-anchor and listener count, and lets you tune in.
- /tunein [player] tunes into a broadcaster directly and /tuneout stops listening.
- /live also lets you speak to a broadcaster you are tuned into when you are within 5 metres.
Breaking news
/breaking [text] sends a server-wide alert tagged with your outlet. There is a shared 60-second cooldown across every reporter, so use it for the real stories.
🏆
Stats and leaderboards
Who is on top
- /newsroom shows every on-duty reporter, their outlet and what they are doing.
- /broadcasthistory shows past broadcasts with date, duration and peak listeners.
- /reporterleaderboard and /outletleaderboard rank reporters and whole outlets by airtime.
- /mybroadcaststats shows your own career totals and /weeklyactivity the last seven days.
A reporter's outlet is locked in when a broadcast starts, so history and leaderboards stay accurate even if they change firms later.

Your crew
Ranks, permissions and the firm bank
A firm starts with room for 10 members. The owner invites people with /firminvite and everyone works under one of four ranks. Each member also has permissions, and the owner can see who has what with /firmmembers.
| Rank | Title | Default permissions |
|---|
| 1 | Owner | Everything |
| 2 | Manager | Invite, kick, change ranks, use the bank, field tools and vehicles |
| 3 | Employee | Field tools only: the job commands in this guide |
| 4 | Trainee | Nothing. A trainee is on the roster but can't use the job tools yet |
- Promote or demote with /firmrank [player] [1-4], or /firmorank [character id] when they are offline. /firmkick and /firmokick remove someone.
- Members clock in with /firmduty. Most job commands only work while you are on duty.
- The firm bank is shared. Anyone can deposit with /firmbank deposit [amount], but withdrawing needs the bank permission. Owners and managers have it.
- Every reporter needs to be on duty to broadcast.
- Only the owner can close the firm, with /firmclose. Closing is final.
