Guides / Firms / Lawyer⚖️ Lawyer firms
Defend prisoners and shorten their sentences. A law firm can reduce a prisoner's sentence in exchange for a fee. The system is built with hard limits so it always takes real roleplay and never becomes a shortcut.

Defending a client
From finding one to the reduction
Find a client
/inmates lists prisoners who can be defended: at least 15 minutes left, not a life sentence, and not already defended this stay.
Meet them
Your client has to be within 10 units of you, so have a guard take them to a visitation room first.
Make the offer
/defend [player] [minutes] [price per minute] sends them an offer. It expires after 30 seconds.
They accept
The prisoner types /accept defend. You both still need to be together when they accept.
The limits
- Minimum price is $100 per minute reduced.
- One defense can take off at most 50% of the sentence and can never leave less than 15 minutes.
- The total is capped to what the prisoner can actually pay, cash and bank together. Nobody goes into the negative.
- Only one defense per sentence. A new arrest resets it.
💵
Getting paid
Where the fee goes
The fee is taken from the prisoner (cash first, then bank) and paid to the lawyer directly. It does not go into the firm bank, so decide in your firm how you share it.
👥
Your crew
Ranks, permissions and the firm bank
A firm starts with room for 10 members. The owner invites people with /firminvite and everyone works under one of four ranks. Each member also has permissions, and the owner can see who has what with /firmmembers.
| Rank | Title | Default permissions |
|---|
| 1 | Owner | Everything |
| 2 | Manager | Invite, kick, change ranks, use the bank, field tools and vehicles |
| 3 | Employee | Field tools only: the job commands in this guide |
| 4 | Trainee | Nothing. A trainee is on the roster but can't use the job tools yet |
- Promote or demote with /firmrank [player] [1-4], or /firmorank [character id] when they are offline. /firmkick and /firmokick remove someone.
- Members clock in with /firmduty. Most job commands only work while you are on duty.
- The firm bank is shared. Anyone can deposit with /firmbank deposit [amount], but withdrawing needs the bank permission. Owners and managers have it.
- Every lawyer defends on their own, so the firm mostly provides the crew and the name.
- Only the owner can close the firm, with /firmclose. Closing is final.
